Located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in South Carolina, Greenville seems to have the best of both worlds – the attractions, dining and nightlife of a modern city with a lively downtown, as well as the charm and hometown feel of a city that is a small town at heart. With its low cost of living, affordable housing, diverse economy, vibrant downtown with art galleries, restaurants, shopping and art venues, and breathtaking scenery and outdoor activities, Greenville offers an unparalleled quality of life.

Greenville is a mid-sized city and the county seat of Greenville County, centrally located between Atlanta, Ga., (120 miles southwest), Charlotte, N.C., (90 miles northeast) and Columbia, S.C., (90 miles southeast) along Interstate I-85. The city is less than three hours from the highest ski slopes on the east coast and less than four hours from the beaches of the Atlantic. Recent census figures show that there are 57,428 people residing in the city of Greenville. However, 245,000 people reside within just a six-mile radius of the center of the city, making Greenville the most populous metro area in the state. A total of 1.2 million people live in the Greenville metro area (which includes eight counties including Greenville, Spartanburg and Anderson, and is commonly known as "The Upstate").
