There are two million jobs available in Houston right now. Many of them are in Houston’s extensive energy and international trade sectors, but those are not the only two industries here. Houston is world-renowned for its aerospace and health care innovations. In addition, the area has strong construction, education, international trade and technology industries.
Houston looks poised for growth. High gasoline prices around the world, the decreased value of the US dollar and a general sense of optimism among workers all bode well for this city. Twenty-three Fortune 500 companies are headquartered in Houston and the city’s gross area product (GAP) is $337 billion (more than that of most nations). In 2006, Houston’s wages and salaries rose nine percent.
